Art Museum Events

Diaz de Los Muertos is a Mexican festival to give honor to departed family members. After five years of hosting this event the Burroughs and Chapin Art Museum is a festive place to celebrate this part of Mexican Culture. There is music, dancing, and piñatas for the children. Traditional food and arts and crafts vendors add to the holiday spirit.

The Chinese New Year Celebration is also a much looked forward to event at the Burroughs and Chapin Art Museum. The event starts and ends with the traditional Lion Dance where a huge Lion puppet animated by dozens of dancers escapades through the museum. Here guests can have their faces painted, learn the art of paper folding, and learn to eat with chopsticks.

The Gullah Culture Celebration is held in June and includes getting to see up close the fine art of sweet grass basket weaving, that you may have notice while traveling in the lowcountry to Myrtle Beach. Enjoy great food, dancing and drumming in this looked forward to annual festival.

All of the annual events at the Myrtle Beach Art Museum are known as Family Fun Days and are free to the public.
