Where to Enjoy the Arts on Your Winter Vacation

Where to Enjoy the Arts on Your Winter Vacation

The art exhibition titled Gee’s Bend | From Quilts to Prints will be held at the Franklin G. Burroughs-Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum, 3100 South Ocean Blvd, Myrtle Beach, through April 16, 2017. From Quilts to Prints will focus on a series of fine art etchings designed by four of the Gee’s Bend quilt makers and produced in collaboration with Paulson Bott Press in Berkeley, CA. Films

Free Friday Films will occur through Jan. 27, 2017 at Chapin Memorial Library in Myrtle Beach. Jan. 20: Sully (PG-13), Jan. 27: Magnificent Seven (PG-13). Must be 18 years of age or older. A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline provides a wonderful opportunity to blend theatre and music into a magical evening that of all ages will enjoy. Twenty of her best-known songs, played by a live band, make this show a treat for the young and old alike. The songs are performed in their entirety with arrangements, back-up vocals and a band structure all providing an accurate re-creation of the Patsy Cline sound. 7-9 p.m. on January 21, 2017 at Alabama Theatre, 4750 Hwy 17 South, North Myrtle Beach.

HCM Film Series

The Horry County Museum Documentary Film Series continues on January 25 at 1 p.m. with an installment of the SC Hall of Fame Film Series – Antebellum Era Inductees produced by SCETV. The next film will feature inductees from the Antebellum Era. Biographies of inductees include Thomas Pinckney, Andrew Jackson, Joel Poinsett, Robert Mills, William Gregg, Dave the Potter, William Gilmore Simms, and Travis & Bonham.
